The TurnCheck system, our latest introduction, is used in measuring cylindrical parts.
The prominent announcements in the budget are an indication towards a growth oriented future. The scheme for design-led manufacturing in the Electronic sector to be launched – to build a strong ecosystem for 5G as part of the Production Linked Incentive Scheme (PLI). This will boost investment in the electronic sector and specifically in the mobile segment, thereby generating thousands of jobs as well as capex investments. Further, 60 lakh new jobs to be created under the PLI scheme in 14 sectors. National highways network to be expanded by 25,000km in 2022-23 which will cost Rs 20,000 crore in 2022-23.
In the defence sector, 68 per cent of capital to be earmarked for local industry. Defence R&D will be opened up for industry, startups and academia with 25 percent of defence R&D budget. The provision for 400 new generation Vande Bharat trains to be manufactured in next 3 years has been made; 2,000 km of rail network to be brought under indigenous technology KAWACH for safety and capacity augmentation. Moreover, 100 PM GatiShakti Cargo terminals for multimodal logistics to be developed during the next three years. For farmers’ progress, the budget also has focused on Kisan Drones’ for crop assessment, digitisation of land records, spraying of insecticides and nutrients.
However the budget has been a disappointment for millions of individual taxpayers who had hoped for additional rebates and change in the tax slabs, which has not been addressed in this budget.
Defence and electronics offerings in Budget 2022
The emphasis on the defence and electronics sector in the budget will help push our business as we have a good number of application areas for our systems in these sectors. Additionally, the government has in the recent past announced Production linked incentive schemes for the automotive sector to push EV sales. As a result, we have seen big investment by both Indian and Foreign manufacturers in this sector.
Growth perception about metrology product market
Metrology product market is directly linked to the capex investment in the manufacturing sector. Growth in the manufacturing sector augurs well for the metrology sector. However, we need to remember that unlike production machines you won’t see big volumes in metrology systems as priority is always on ramping up production and then consider investment in quality control equipment.
ISO/IEC17025 compliant calibration lab for certification
ISO/IEC 17025:2017 specifies the general requirements for the competence, impartiality and consistent operation of calibration laboratories across the world. These norms are put in place to follow the strict guidelines for the calibration of precision measuring instruments / machines. QVI has an ISO/IEC 17025 certified lab in Rochester, United States at our factory. All our machine calibrating artefacts and gauges are calibrated in this advanced calibration lab. The lab is having our best in class machines. These machines enable sub-micron capability at low uncertainties as required by the marketplace. Our lab is temperature controlled at 200 C (+/- 0.10 C)Atmanirbharta plan for indigenous manufacturing
Our Hon’ble PM has given clarion call for AtmaNirbhar Bharat. Under the AtmaNirbhar Bharat plan, the government has given special incentives to various manufacturing sectors like energy, electric vehicles, textiles, electronics, and now semiconductors. I believe these steps will boost investment in these sectors, which we are already seeing in some areas. It will create thousands of jobs across India and more importantly it will boost our economy.
Leaders in VMM Manufacturing
QVI (Formally OGP) is the world leader in manufacturing of high precision video measuring machines (VMM). We were the pioneers in the introduction of VMMs to the market in the late 70’s. Over the years, we have gained experience & nuances in the manufacturing of VMM, which has resulted in various enhancements in the design and development of the software, which plays a crucial role in the functioning of the VMM. Our most popular models are Smartscope Flash and Smartscope ZIP series machines, prevailing in the market for more than 25 years now. Customers across the globe have trusted these systems when it comes to reliable vision measuring systems.
TurnCheck system: precision instrument for shaft measurements
TurnCheck is our latest introduction to the market. The TurnCheck machine is used in measuring shafts and cylindrical parts at higher speeds. These are laser based non-contact systems giving highly accurate performance. It gives all the critical dimensions of shafts instantly. The system is backed by powerful software developed in house. Customers will now have a better alternative for shaft measuring applications from a reliable manufacturer. We hope to get a good response from the market.
Innovative measuring systems in the pipeline
QVI has been regularly innovating new technologies from time to time. Various patents that we have received over the years have enhanced our reputation as technology leaders in the field of optical metrology. We have a history of over 75 years in optical metrology. Our group company OGP (Optical Gauging Products) started in 1945, building optical comparators (profile projectors) and other optical instruments. Since then we have a rich legacy of developing high end optical metrology systems. In this endeavour we will keep on introducing the latest optical measuring systems in the times to come.
