We work rigorously to integrate advanced automation and IoT to increase the per sheet productivity by monitoring the processes very closely
Maulik Patel, Executive Director, SLTL Group, discusses about a new launch at IMTEX 2020, namely a new cutting technology for a specific consumer set. He also talks about how IoT is increasing the efficiency of sheet metal forming.
What is going to be your focus in IMTEX 2020?
This year, SLTL Group would be focusing on empowering new fabricators and first-time fibre laser adopters by making our proprietary technology more affordable with them. Sahajanand Laser Technology Ltd. is one of the biggest players in the laser market and it is also one of the prominent participants in IMTEX. In IMTEX 2020, we are focusing on mostly cutting technology and are bringing in new technology designed for the specific consumer set. We are yet to make an official announcement about it. So, stay with us for the announcement at IMTEX.
Since sheet metal forming is one of the key technologies in metal and tooling industry, what kind of expertise is required to cater quality application?
Well, I would say that perspective and focus is more important than the key technologies. Elaborating on the point, unlike other companies, at SLTL Group, we are focused on listening to customers and understanding their main concerns. We try to prioritise with the most effective solutions for trying to solve the problem through our industry-leading technology. We are consumed in creating a future where using these technologies is as easy as using an appliance to get unprecedented quality and productivity.
Sheet metal processing is one of the key aspects of the manufacturing industry, and when we invented fibre laser cutting for sheet metal, we took the standards to a whole new level. Larger industries are under immense pressure from the market to process sheet metal at lower prices and with uncompromised quality.
Looking at the challenges in domestic manufacturing, how do you see the export potential for metal forming and fabrication?
If you look at the manufacturing sector’s key players in the market, we are one of the top names and exports have been our key part of our business. The domestic market currently struggling and as a leading name, we think it’s our responsibility to give market options to continue and thrive the operations. Hence, our team this year worked closely with fabricators to figure out the core needs and worked to develop Laser Systems with the same quality at a practical price. Exports are a key focus but we are not undermining the domestic market potential.
How is automation and IoT role in shaping the sector?
Automation and IoT give fabricators and manufacturers extra control over the sheet metal processing. With changing dynamics of the manufacturing industries, we at SLTL Group work rigorously to integrate advanced automation and IoT to increase the per sheet productivity by monitoring the processes very closely. With IoT, we are giving owners of our Laser Systems, the power to oversee their machine and use the technology to increase their productivity, while maintaining the superior quality and keeping the cost down, which is the prime-time market demand.
