Carl Zeiss has biggest market share for CMM business in India

Having brought the manufacturing set up to India we have become more competitive, compared to the imported machines in the past.
Adoption of Industrial CT in the Indian market Industrial CT is fast growing, and they are used in multiple applications be it Quality Assurance, R&D or even in Production control. The biggest advantage that customers see is the inspection done in a non-destructive way with a short cycle time. The volume data from CT is so accurate that even a complex job with multiple features can be measured in 1/10th of the time when compared to conventional methods. This makes customers consider Industrial CT as an alternate option when it comes to Quality and Production control.
ZEISS is now in a unique position to provide a wide range of CT solutions for different customer segments, be it from small plastic parts to huge casting blocks or a complex electronic part.
Plan to democratise metrology solutions for Indian Market
We are making our products accessible to our customers through our QECs (Quality Excellence Center) which are spread across India. They are strategically located close to the industrial areas to enable easy access to our customers with our high-end measurement solutions. We support our customers extensively through our QEC and our application experts guide them with the right measurement technique.
Hence, with minimum investment we help our customer to overcome their measurement challenges in the initial phase and once they stabilise, they come to us with their clear investment plan. By this, we are making ourselves affordable to start ups and of course we are the preferred partner for established players in the market.
Facilities offered for MSME sector
In collaboration with various MSME associations we provide technical webinars and training sessions on measurement related topics especially on GD&T subject. We also conduct many certified courses at our QEC to hone their technical skills. We collaborate closely with MSME Tool room and AIPMA especially in topics like reverse engineering and Mould development. Our Product experts share their knowledge in many common forums organised by MSME associations and further we invite them to visit our factory to share the best practices.
New customer segment ZEISS is focussing on and the strategic approach Automotive world is fast changing from Internal combustion Engines to New Energy Vehicles. We have also identified this change at a very early stage, and we have established ourselves as one of the dominant players when it comes to providing measurement solutions to NEV.We identified the NEV segment as our next target market and we combined our different product portfolios to suit them. We are the only company in the metrology world, being able to address complete measurement requirements of NEV. The challenges are multi-fold when it comes to NEV as we have to deal with raw material to finish the part.
Each stage has its own challenges to address but fortunately we have the right mix of products with us like for example an Electron Microscopes, Nano and Micro resolution X-ray systems, CMMs & 3D Scanner.
All the equipment are available in our QECs spread across
India and we stand committed to our customer to provide support for their complex measurement needs of NEV.
ZEISS success in Tier2, Tier3 cities / segments in India
Globally, ZEISS is a reputed brand for CMMs and it is no different in India as well. After we established our local production of CMMs in Bangalore, our market presence has further increased. The machines assembled in Bangalore were consumed by both domestic and global customers. Having brought the manufacturing set up to India we have become more competitive, compared to the imported machines in the past. The biggest advantage for our customer was the lead time which was drastically reduced. This was a big boon for the small customers as they get a price advantage because of local production, and they can also start their production without waiting for machines to arrive from our Germany or US factories.
We have also appointed a strong Business partner network across small industrial belts and today, we can proudly say that we have the biggest market share in India for CMM business. This success was only possible because of the reason that we could reach Tier2 & Tier 3 segments. We will further continue our efforts to cater to these segments as we see more and more investment possibilities in the days to come.
