Aerospace & Defence Manufacturing: Enhancing Self-Reliance | OEM Update | Industry Speaks
September 8, 2023 4:58 pm
The aerospace industry had been emerging as a Defence manufacturing hub globally and had been engaging in technology transfer for defence aircraft. The growing demand for defence equipment and aircraft had been driving the growth of Defence manufacturing and the civilian aerospace market, enhancing manufacturing capacity. Strong growth had been evident with the opening of new airports, connectivity, and commercial air transport for India. The innovative materials had been bringing further opportunities, change, and challenges in manufacturing.
The Defence Ministry had set a target of 70 percent self-reliance in weapons by 2027, creating enormous prospects for industry players in aerospace and defence manufacturing. Apart from setting up Defence Industrial Corridors in Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, the recently signed fighter engine deal for technology transfer between HAL and GE had been a boost to self-reliance in the aerospace and defence sector, and the launch of the Chandrayaan mission had been the latest instance in this direction.
On that note, OEM Update hosted an interactive session on Aerospace & Defence Manufacturing: Enhancing Self-Reliance on August 25, 2023. During that 90-minute session, industry experts deliberated on opportunities for Indian aerospace manufacturing, escalating capacity, technological advancements, self-reliance in the defence sector, and emerging collaborations.
On August 25, 2023, at 4:00 PM, OEM Update organized a webinar on ‘Aerospace & Defence Manufacturing: Enhancing Self-Reliance’.
