Shyam Metalics and Energy Ltd. (SMEL) has commissioned a blast furnace and sinter plant at its Jamuria location, costing ₹. 600 crore, to increase production capacity and meet the growing demand for high-quality steel products.
Shyam Metalics and Energy Ltd. (SMEL) has formally commissioned a new blast furnace and established a sinter plant at its Jamuria location. This substantial new initiative, which will cost Rs. 600 crore, intends to increase production capacities in order to meet the growing demand for high-quality steel products across industries.
The plant has commissioned a blast furnace with a capacity of 0.77 million metric tonnes per annum, boosting its production by 0.77 MTPA. The 550 cubic meters blast furnace is equipped with three top-fired stoves, modern coal dust injection technology, and a dry gas cleaning plant, improving margins by approximately ₹. 700/MTPA.
The plant’s 18 MW Top Gas Pressure Recovery Turbine (TRT) offers a 10% energy recovery, improving efficiency. A specialised evaporative cooling system uses 20% less water and electricity compared to traditional systems. The facility is designed for zero process water discharge, maximising efficiency.Shyam Metalics prioritises manufacturing efficiency through brownfield expansion with high-temperature hot blast and high peak pressure technology with engineering assistance from SDM of China, resulting in increased coal infusion and energy savings.
