Gold Plus expands its facility with solar glass venture

Gold Plus has successfully commissioned its Karnataka facility, doubling its capacity to 584,000 metric tonnes per annum and 109,500 metric tonnes per annum.
Gold Plus Glass Industry Limited (“Gold Plus”), the second-largest float glass manufacturer in India with a 22% share of manufacturing capacity for float glass as of September 30, 2023, announces the successful commissioning of its manufacturing facility in Karnataka. With this expansion, Gold Plus has solidified its position and further diversified its product offerings by entering the solar glass segment.
The Karnataka project achieved Commercial Operations Date (COD) milestones in June 2024. The total phase-wise float glass manufacturing capacity installed in the project is 584,000 metric tonnes per annum, and solar glass manufacturing capacity is 109,500 metric tonnes per annum. The project’s total investment of ₹2,500 crore underscores Gold Plus’s commitment to driving innovation and capacity expansion in India’s glass manufacturing industry. The company already has an existing facility of 456,250 metric tonnes per annum at its Roorkee ant. With the addition of the Karnataka facility, Gold Plus total installed float glass capacity now exceeds one million tonnes annually, reaching an impressive 1,040,250 metric tonnes per annum and solar glass capacity of 109,500 tonnes per annum.
The company’s capacity share in India’s float glass industry is expected to reach 26.1% post-expansion and COD achievement in June 2024, according to a CRISIL report.
