While talking to OEM Update, Anil Kumar Miglani, Managing Director, Angel India CAD CAM Pvt. Ltd., said that manufacturers can optimise productive and non-productive time with the help of Industry 4.0.
Recent trends and innovations affecting the machine tool industry
To compete for these challenges more intelligently, we need to adopt available innovations as a solution like IIoT or Industry 4.0 ready machines so that one can plan production more effectively, increase the productivity of the machine, and gauge machine efficiency. With the help of these advancements, the latest trends are investments in advanced versions of CAD & CAM software / Nesting software. Users can go for the effective utilisation of raw materials in this competitive market, and it also allows for faster processing, less lag time, and quick feedback for machine operators while they work. Also, by implementing smart features and wired or wireless advanced network capability in the machine tool, we can increase the machine tool’s reach and versatility, leading to a smart factory

Government’s goal to implement PLI outlay as an incentive
Government’s goal is to implement PLI outlay as an incentive to aid manufacturing. The goal of the GOI and Ministry of Finance in introducing Production-Linked Incentives PLI is to boost domestic manufacturing capacities, which will lead us to ‘AatmNirbhr Bharat’. It will also help generate employment nationwide, criticise the volume of imports in India, and, in the long run, increase the quantum of export-oriented production from India across all 14 sectors.
Design-led manufacturing for 5G
The Government of India has proposed Designed Led Manufacturing for 5G in the current Union Budget to build a strong ecosystem for 5G, and it is also a part of PLI for Telecom industries. It has also been announced that the Government of India will award a contract for laying optical fiber cable in all villages and remote areas. The overall goal is to bring more affordable mobile and broadband services to remote and rural India while also promoting the digital economy and technology. This will provide access to e-Services, communication facilities, and digital resources in remote and rural areas of India, as well as promote R&D and commercialization of technologies and solutions
Manufacturing with Industry 4.0/ 5.0 to optimize production
Industry 4.0 enables digital process and production time optimization in a real-time monitoring environment. In the manufacturing environment, significant time is lost in locating the right solution and process equipment, as well as the multiple processes required to achieve proper production. With the help of Industry 4.0 ready machines and software sets, one can save time involved in these processes such as preparation or preproduction preparation time. We can generate part solutions with the help of various Compatible CAD-CAM & Production planning software (All programming software is now quite capable of generating the solution and identifying the problem in part manufacturing related to design constraints or material properties constraints). The most recent challenge is the project delivery lead time. Considering a variety of small-batch size production in a specific assembly leads to time investments in parts feasibility with the existing setup, to be competitive in the current market scenario manufacturers have to deliver the project in shorter lead time, and to achieve that they have to minimise the production planning time there these industry 4.0 software suites or set of software can help the manufacturer to achieve the same more smartly with a lesser lead time.
With Industry 4.0, machines, programming software, and other process software can collaborate in real-time, providing an advantage for monitoring flow, machine malfunctioning, errors, alarms, and overcoming shortfalls and product quality validation throughout the entire process, from material inflow to final product dispatch. Manufacturers can also optimise productive and non-productive time with the help of Industry 4.0, resulting in trouble-free production.
