Biesse has integrated IoT and new-age technologies into its machines, including Sophia, an award-winning solution that allows real-time monitoring of its machines and systems. Prahallada KN, CPO at Biesse India, shares how this technology enables them to integrate devices and provide status and information on productivity and space utilisation.
How is Biesse advancing to other sectors, including woodworking machinery?
Biesse is well-known for its woodworking machinery, which is our primary business. However, we also offer solutions for processing other materials, including stone and glass, which are primarily used in the construction industry. We also stay current on various topics in light of the rapidly changing technologies. Our renowned HSC spindles are utilised for multiple applications, and we have a dedicated Mechatronics division. With this technology at our disposal, we are entering the machining market. We have thermoforming machines used in the packaging and automotive industries and the solutions offered by the mould-making industry.
What kind of IoT and new-age technologies have you incorporated into your machines?
We have incorporated Sophia, an IoT solution, into our numerous customer requirements, which include productivity notes and maintenance requirements. Through our partnership with Accenture, we can provide real-time machine and system monitoring through our award-winning solution, Sophia. We receive the status and drill-down-capable statistics, primarily regarding the productivity items that our customers desire. Customers can simply arrange the space thing. In the critically important fields of analytics and predictive maintenance, Sophia plays a very strong role.We have also developed a sensor based on WiFi that will be incorporated into our primary spindle. That is one of our registered patented technologies. This solution allows us to monitor vital technologies in real time, such as main spindles, which makes integration possible.
