Krishnamurthy Ravi, General Manager, MGM-Varvel in an interview with OEM Purchase
While interacting with OEM Update, Krishnamurthy Ravi, General Manager, MGM-Varvel talking about the recent tie-up mentioned that we are working on to build the right stock at Chennai to meet the demands and requirements originating from all over India.
MGM Varvel based in Chennai, deals in Brake motors and Gearboxes and is in an expanding spree trying to reach demands forthcoming from other emerging sectors also. Company serves both as an assembly centre for gearboxes and motors. Recently, it entered into a strategic tie-up with a company called IMAK, which is a Turkish company. The IMAK mainly focuses on construction equipment. However, our company has been supplying gearboxes to various clients.
Can you talk about your products? Any new features which you have added to them?
MGM Brake motors needed an ISI approval in the Indian market. The ISI mark is a standards-compliance mark for industrial products in India. The mark certifies that a product conforms to an Indian standard developed by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the national standards body of India. After successful striving for getting approval, the company’s brake motors from 0.06kW to 55kW have now been approved by BIS
Elaborating further, he says, as far as Varvel GearBoxes are concerned, we supply our Worm/ Heli worm Gear boxes/ Bevel helical Gear boxes to Batch Processing plants. As mentioned, we have a strategic tieup with a company IMAK which is a Turkish company.
IMAK deals with heavy duty Gearboxes. It is mainly focusing on construction equipment. MGM Varvel has supplied gearboxes to a few other clients also. The company also has developed a new product meant for the Twin Shaft Mixers. The reason for producing it was very evident and it is in line with the government’s focus on infrastructural investment.Looking at the infrastructure growth, what kind of products do you believe will be in vogue?
Since a voluminous growth is happening in the construction equipment market, the company will be focusing on Brake motors for Construction Equipment’s like Batch processing plants/ Pavers/ Material Hoist in Construction/ Crane Industry.
Sensing the increasing use of construction equipment and pouring investment for infrastructural development, tie-up with IMAK for our vast product range would expand our base catering to the construction equipment demand. We are optimistic that with such a development in our ambit, we will be achieving almost double-digit growth next year.
The current geo-political situation is posing a tough time for all the manufacturers from Europe and Turkey, but the situation will improve in future. Keeping that in mind, we are working on to build the right stock at Chennai to meet the requirements all over India.
Who are the key customers/market for your product offerings?
With expansion of our product offerings, we are keenly engaged with a batch processing plant which is our target market. Similar is the case with asphalt mixing plants and vertical manual lifts. These in particular are the three major markets that we will be concentrating on in this financial year. With this aim we are confident to attract more new customers in MGM Varvel’s fold.
