IoT based technologies can reduce energy use for HVAC systems

By OEM Update Editorial June 24, 2022 12:58 pm

Ecoair will benefit from the infrastructural development, opportunity to explore bigger markets and gain momentum to march towards expansion.

Sharing his views with OEM Update, Sandeep Jaisinghani, Managing Director, Ecoair Cooling Systems Pvt. Ltd., remarked, New age HVAC systems use an Internet of Things (IoT) system and are embedded with sensors, software, and connectivity.

In today’s scenario where every human being is striving to protect himself and his family from Covid-19. Supply of Fresh, Cool and Clean air, HVAC systems are the need of the hour. Sandeep Jaisinghani, Managing Director, Ecoair Cooling Systems Pvt. Ltd., shared his views on the HVACR industry, elaborating that it has been growing at a steady pace and the demands have been growing at a rapid pace. To provide ergonomic work facility, a properly designed and installed HVAC system can provide comfort to employees and it also lowers energy bills and optimises water consumption. HVAC systems of the future will use technologies such as IoT based applications, solar power, smart thermostats and higher efficiency motors-components to reduce their energy use and overall environmental impact.

Your reaction post budget and the impact on your business?

The budget focuses more towards the infrastructure development and this time around capex goods have also got some relief. Also schemes like Make in India give an impetus to small and medium scale enterprises.

Mid-sized organisations like Ecoair will benefit from the infrastructural development, opportunity to explore bigger markets and gain momentum to march towards expansion.

Brief about the company’s product range.

Ecoair is a leading manufacturer and supplier of Cooling & Ventilation Systems for Industrial and Commercial applications with a range of innovative products like Evaporative Air Cooling, HVLS fans and Air distribution products etc. Ecoair evaporative coolers are completely environmentally friendly and provide clean, fresh and cool air at extremely low running costs.

Ecoair products are suitable for open spaces like Factory shop Floors, Restaurants, Commercial premises, Activity areas, and can be customised to customer requirements.

HVLS fans are High performance industrial fans which replace multiple wall mounted fans. They reduce running cost up to 80 percent compared to other fans & payback in 6 months. HVLS Fan distributes air up to 15000 sq. ft. corner to corner. Its coverage is without draft consuming only 1.5KW power. Evaporative Air Cooler provides fresh, filtered, cool air with comfort cooling up to 20 degrees with high airflow. This cooler is environment friendly & gives energy saving up to 80 percent. Industrial Exhaust fan with louvers designed to prevent duct ingress when fan is switched off.

Direct drive fan without belt gives maintenance free operation and long life. These exhaust fans are having large air flow, low noise and are energy saving, small capacity motor running at low RPM & large air displacement. Air Circulators are specially designed for installation in false ceilings and can be fixed into a standard 2’ x 2’ ceiling grid and extremely easy to install. Revolving louvers distribute air in a large area. It reduces air conditioning load as the air flow from the fan creates “Wind Chill Effects” giving improved comfort cooling.

With State of the Art facility and corporate office in Hinjewadi, Pune brings in tremendous agility in our operations. With our dealers located across all the major cities, increasing our reach PAN India.

Upcoming trends in smart HVACR systems?

  • Electronic air cleaners are 40x more efficient than a standard.
  • Rightsizing, and types of refrigerant used, improve HVAC efficiency.
  • Variable speed motors/pumps optimises the efficiency of the HVAC system.
  • Filters must be cleaned/replaced every 2-3 months at a minimum to maintain the efficiency of an HVAC system.

What new measures and solutions have a role to improve energy efficiency in air conditioning and refrigeration?

The usage of technologically advanced motors like Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM). A technology which is used by most of the electric vehicles to reduce carbon foot print and reduce the energy cost. Use higher efficiency motors and reduction in the weightage of the products by use of advanced silicon chip based PCB. Large scale production to lower the cost of the products.

What measures do you suggest for air quality and ventilation from a health and hygiene point of view?

Clean air is a basic requirement of life. Maintaining and improving quality of air in any facility or other private and public buildings where people spend a large part of their life is an essential determinant of healthy life. Hazardous substances emitted from construction materials and process equipment or due to machines, lead to a broad range of health problems and may even be fatal. There are few basic standard practices to be followed to maintain the quality of air,

  • Maintain proper ventilation.
  • Use fresh air whenever possible
  • Calculate Air Changes required for a facility/work or ensure it takes place
  • Use of exhaust.
  • Clean/Replace the Air Filters.
  • Use of Air Purifiers.

What new automation trends are visible in the HVAC industry?

  • New age HVAC systems use an Internet of Things (IoT) system and are embedded with sensors, software, and connectivity that enables the HVAC system to exchange data with other connected devices.
  • Use of software to increase the accuracy and suggest the products to improve efficiency.
  • Use of self-learning thermostats and HVAC systems with predictive diagnostics to reduce the energy costs.
  • Making the system environmentally friendly.
