International trade plays a central role in the global economy and enables access to resources that are not available in some countries. However, it also brings challenges such as trade imbalances and protectionism. HANNOVER MESSE fosters global dialog on these issues.
A balanced, transparent policy is crucial in order to make the most of the benefits of international trade. Visitors to HANNOVER MESSE discover how this can work at the exhibition area “International Trade & Investment”, where countries and regions present their business opportunities and discuss with economic development organizations, foreign direct investors and public private partnerships trade and investment opportunities as well as market entry, settlement promotion and international cooperation.
“The world currently faces many challenges, including supply chain disruptions, climate change, economic stagnation and a shortage of skilled workers. However, it is precisely at this time that companies should seize the opportunities for international dialog, cooperation and investment,” said Basilios Triantafillos, Global Director Trade Fair and Product Management at HANNOVER MESSE. “Our ‘International Trade & Investment’ platform serves precisely this purpose. Every year, thousands of participants learn about the latest topics and developments in global trade.”
“Despite challenges, international trade remains an important pillar of the German economy. According to the latest DIHK economic survey, the export industry is developing slightly better undeterred by the overall gloomy mood. However, the DIHK surveys also show that increased energy prices, the high tax and duty burden as well as bureaucratic reporting obligations put a strain on German companies’ foreign business. Trade barriers and protectionism are additional challenges in many target markets,” says Melanie Vogelbach, Managing Director International Economic Policy at the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DIHK). “At HANNOVER MESSE, the German Chambers of Commerce Abroad provide visitors with first-hand advice and practical support to help them discover new business opportunities abroad.”
