Reliance Infrastructure Limited plans expansion into renewable energy manufacturing

Company to establish integrated solar equipment and battery manufacturing units.
Reliance Infrastructure Limited (RInfra), a leading player in the infrastructure sector, is planning entry into the renewable energy manufacturing industry. The company will be establishing integrated solar and battery manufacturing units. As part of its Integrated Solar Manufacturing initiative, RInfra will be setting up a state-of-the-art facility to boost the production of solar panels and components, promoting self-sufficiency in clean energy. Simultaneously, its Integrated Battery Manufacturing unit will focus on developing advanced energy storage solutions for grid applications and electric mobility.
With Reliance Infrastructure’s entry into solar equipment and battery manufacturing business, the Reliance Group will now cover the entire spectrum of renewable energy value chain, enabling the group to offer end-to-end solutions – from renewable energy equipment manufacturing to solar power generation.
To lead this venture, Reliance Infrastructure has appointed industry veterans to spearhead its new business verticals:
Leadership appointments
Ivan Saha is appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), of Renewable Manufacturing. With over 30 years of experience in semiconductors, solar technology, and MEMS device design, Ivan Saha is a distinguished expert in the renewable energy sector. As the former CEO of Vikram Solar, he successfully expanded manufacturing capacity and led global business development initiatives. Previously, as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at ReNew Power, he played a pivotal role in establishing GW-scale solar cell and module manufacturing.
Mushtaque Hussain is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), of Battery Manufacturing. Mushtaque Hussain brings over 25 years of expertise in the automotive, renewable energy, consumer electronics, and power tools sectors. He has held key leadership roles in major organizations such as Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) and Tesla. Before joining RInfra, he served as Senior Vice President & Chief Operating Officer of the New Energy Division at RIL, where he led innovations in sodium-ion and cobalt-free battery technologies.
Dr. Shubham Duttagupta will be the Chief Technology Officer (CTO), of Solar Manufacturing. Dr. Duttagupta has over 17 years of expertise in solar technology, industrialization, and photovoltaics. Previously, he led the New Energy Business at RIL, playing a key role in large-scale solar cell industrialization.
Reliance Power’s Expansion in Renewable Energy Generation
Previously, Reliance Power Ltd. has announced significant plans for its renewable energy generation business:
Reliance NU Energies Private Limited, a subsidiary of Reliance Power, appointed two key leaders:• Mayank Bansal as CEO
• Rakesh Swaroop as COO
They bring over 40 years of experience in the energy sector.
Reliance Nu Suntech Private Limited, a subsidiary of Reliance Power, recently secured a 930 Mw solar energy project with a battery energy storage system (BESS) from the Solar Energy Corporation Of India (SECI) through an e-reverse auction.
• The project includes a minimum storage capacity of 465 Mw/1,860 Mwh, charged by solar power.
• This is the largest single-location integrated solar power and BESS Project in Asia.
• The Company is also developing 1,270 MW of renewable energy projects in Bhutan.
With these strategic initiatives and leadership appointments, Reliance Group is poised to drive innovation, operational excellence, and market leadership in the renewable energy sector.
