Spiral retaining rings form a removable shoulder in assemblies, providing a uniform 360-degree retaining surface. Smalley retaining rings have a uniform cross-section and have no ears to interfere. Spiral retaining rings offer a significant advantage/ alternative to common snap rings.
Manufacturing process
Smalley products are manufactured using the exclusive Circular-GrainÒ Forming Process. Rings and springs are not diestamped from sheet or strip. They are produced by edge-winding flat wire, a proprietary forming process.
