VEGA introduced the 80 GHz radar technology few years back and now VEGA has come up with yet another revolutionary set of radar sensors that are designed especially for simple applications found in drinking water and wastewater treatment plants. All new VEGAPULS Series of VEGA give distinct advantage to the users.
Heart of the new technology
The new microchip not only helped in the compact design but helps in reducing the maintenance cost as well. With the help of new microchip, VEGA was able to address the cost-sensitive applications in water industry by keeping costs of new radars at par with ultrasonic sensors.
Robust and weatherproof design, Reliable Measurement
Water and wastewater sector predominantly make use of ultrasonic technology for level measurement. However, as sound waves suffer limitations when it comes to changing weather conditions, temperature etc., measurements using ultrasonic may not always be reliable. On the other hand, radar technology is immune to such external effects, and will always give reliable measurement. A typical application in wastewater plant would be the flow measurement in channels that transport wastewater to the sewage treatment plant. The precise data of flow rate would be the basis for calculating wastewater levies. In such open channels, radar is able do deliver accuracy without any effect of solar radiation or temperature variance. In addition, dirt, contamination, foam, condensation and build-up has no effect on the reliability and accuracy of the measured value.
Also, due to process conditions, sensors are often submerged in water. Mechanical flood protection sleeves in ultrasonic sensors can easily get soiled in such conditions. In contrast, radar sensors have no such limitation, hence, the maintenance cost is reduced as well.
Easy display with VEGAMET
Secure supply, Easy installation and MaintenanceWith no dead zone, radar sensors are ideal sensors that can measure reliably up to top of the container. Strong outgassing has no effect on the measured value. Additionally, VEGA radars come with Ex approval, means they can be used for flammable media.
Easy installation and commissioning of devices is the hallmark of VEGA. Thanks to VEGA Tools app, anyone can set-up, adjust the instruments easily. Bluetooth functionality helps users to keep safe distance while commissioning as well as taking readings.
This way, radar sensors definitely prove to be better ultrasonic with host of benefits.
