UAE and Honeywell partner to develop the first battery gigafactory by 2026

Honeywell and Volts are partnering to develop Abu Dhabi’s first gigafactory, focusing on producing battery cells for Residential Energy Storage Systems. The gigafactory is expected to be completed by the end of 2026, building on the sustainability talks held at COP28.

Honeywell & Volts The United Arab Emirates (UAE) disclosed plans to collaborate on the development of Abu Dhabi’s first gigafactory, which would focus on producing battery cells for Residential Energy Storage Systems. Building on the sustainability talks held at COP28 in the UAE, the gigafactory is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.

As part of the agreement, Honeywell will deliver sophisticated equipment and software solutions, with an emphasis on industrial automation, digitalization, and closed loop control systems, while also serving as Volts’ primary technological partner.

George Bou Mitri, VP and GM of Honeywell Industrial Automation in MENA, said, “There is a clear link between the UAE’s commitment to sustainability and Honeywell’s global focus on its three megatrends, in this instance, specifically the energy transition.
