TIPL completes 60 years of operations

Toshniwal Industries Pvt. Ltd. (TIPL), a manufacturer of process instrumentation products and solutions in India, was incorporated by Dr. GR Toshniwal and his brothers in 1959. It offers a wide range of products, systems and solutions, including process control instruments, surveillance systems, test and measurement, condition monitoring, environmental solutions, and process optimisation and safety.

This year, TIPL is celebrating its 60th year of incorporation. As part of these celebrations, the company organised several events and activities like a blood donation drive in partnership with JLN Hospital, a tree plantation drive, inspirational talks for business, spiritual and thought leaders, a musical performance by a well-known New Delhi rock band, and sports events. The celebrations culminated with a mega event called “Utkarsh” at Mayo College, Ajmer.

The event was attended by over 1,000 guests, including eminent citizens of Ajmer, the company’s overseas partners from the US, Japan, Europe, and China, as well as major customers, suppliers, and the entire TIPL family. A product expo will was held at the TIPL office as well, which showcased the company’s entire range of products, systems, and solutions. It was attended by more than 100 business delegates from the steel, cement, power and projects industries.

Moreover, TIPL recently signed a joint venture with KE Electric, Shijiazhuang, China, a leading player in the field of design, manufacturing, research, and maintenance of the entire scope of electrical power distribution and metering. The new venture is called Toshniwal Electric Works Pvt. Ltd. and it will manufacture and market smart meters in India. The venture has already bagged an order of 4,00,000 electric meters.

According to the Family Business Alliance, about 30 percent of all family-owned businesses make the transition from the first to the second generation. Approximately 12 percent make it to the third generation, and only 3 percent of all family businesses successfully transition to the fourth generation and beyond. TIPL is among this small minority of businesses that has made it to the fourth generation. This has been possible because of the values that have been embedded in the organisation by the leaders of the Toshniwal family over four generations. According to Rajeev Toshniwal, Managing Director, TIPL, “It is not hard to make decisions once you know what your values are. We are what we are because of our values. Our stated values are Knowledge, Ownership, Speed, Trust, and Transparency. Over the last few years, we have consciously embedded these amongst all employees. I can confidently say that every employee of TIPL is aware of our values and are encouraged to practise them.”
