At IMTEX FORMING 2016, it’s all about ‘Make in India’

With recorded business orders worth about ` 450 crore and generated potential business enquiries of about ` 4,300 crore, IMTEX FORMING 2016 paved the way for making in India
IMTEX FORMING 2016, an international show on forming technology and Tooltech 2016, provided the much-needed thrust for “Make in India”. With the recorded business orders worth about ` 450 crore and generated potential business enquiries to the tune of about ` 4,300 crore, the show proved to be a true enabler for “Make in India”. 
PG Jadeja, President, IMTMA, said, “Several policy initiatives of the government have created positive sentiment and helped the machine tool industry to move ahead on its growth path. India is set to become a global player.”  He also informed that IMTMA in partnership with government of India managed to get approval for creation of R&D facility at IIT Chennai dedicated to machine tools and also for the creation of a technology fund.
Karnataka’s industries minister, RV Deshpande said, “Karnataka has been at the forefront of ‘Make in India’ campaign for several years and had taken cluster driven approach then which has been highly successful. The availability of skilled workforce in Karnataka would play an important role in the growth of the machine tool industry in the state and assured IMTMA of all support at the policy and execution level.”
The exhibition had around 485 exhibitors displaying over 500 live machines in 3 exhibition halls covering a gross area of around 30,000 sq.mts. Four countries – China, Germany, Japan and Taiwan formed country pavilions. The participation other than India came from 22 countries. Organised by the Indian Machine Tool Manufacturers’ Association the twin exhibitions held at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre in Bengaluru attracted a footfall of around 40,000 visitors.
Over 100 trade delegations from various industry sectors such as aerospace, auto components, automobiles, capital goods, defence, electrical and electronics, oil and gas equipment, railways, plastic machinery sector, white and brown goods, and many more visited the show.
Key public sector undertakings such as Bharat Heavy Electricals, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, Indian Space Research Organisation, National Aeronautics Limited, Railways, Ordnance Factory Board, etc. visited as part of trade delegations. Many private companies such as Bajaj Auto, Fiat India Automobiles, Larsen & Toubro, Robert Bosch Automotive Electronics India, Volvo Construction Equipment, Hawkins Cookers, Toyota, Maruti Suzuki, Caterpillar, PRICOL, Infosys, UTC Aerospace, Honda Cars, TVS and Kalyani Technoforge also visited the show.
