Artson Group has partnered with Malabar Cements to establish a boat manufacturing joint venture in Kerala. The ₹300 crore project aims to build a factory for vessels under 100 tonnes.
Tata Group’s Artson Group has partnered with Malabar Cements to establish a joint venture in Kerala for boat manufacturing. The agreement was officially signed at the Invest Kerala Global Summit on Saturday through an MoU.
The ₹300 crore project aims to build a boat manufacturing factory for vessels under 100 tonnes. Malabar Cements will lease seven acres of land from the Cochin Port Trust for the facility’s location. Artson Group had previously shown an interest in contributing to Kochi’s industrial expansion, and this agreement is a step in that direction.
According to Shashank Jha, CEO of Artson Group, and Chandra Bose, Managing Director of Malabar Cements, the production unit is expected to start operations within six months, subject to requisite government agreements. The first phase will focus on delivering boats to the Kochi Water Metro, with potential exports to Europe in the future.The Government of Kerala held the two-day Invest Kerala Global Summit, which began on Friday, with the cooperation of several business organisations.
