Stakeholders from the electric vehicle (EV) sector held deliberations with Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal on various issues, including the development of battery charging and swapping infrastructure.

An advisor from Tesla and representatives from luxury car manufacturers Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Audi also attended the meet.

In an effort to entice global EV makers to invest in the country, the government implemented an electric vehicle policy in March of last year, offering duty reductions to companies that set up manufacturing units in the country with a minimum investment of $500 million.
