Pilz’s Annual Digital Press Conference highlighted transformative advancements in digitization and sustainability, emphasizing industry safety and innovative solutions in automation, hydrogen, and packaging sectors.
Pilz, a global supplier of safe automation products, systems, and services, recently held its Annual Digital Press Conference, attended by the world press. Thomas Pilz, Managing Partner, addressed the industry’s transformation driven by digitization and sustainability. He highlighted that digitization leads to increased networking of production systems, raising risks of data manipulation and leakage. Unlike IT security, industrial security protects production plants from intentional attacks, while functional safety prevents unintentional hazardous states. “There’s no Safety without Security, and without Safety, people are not protected from accidents!” remarked Pilz.
Susanne Kunschert, Managing Partner, emphasised Pilz’s 2023 success, with a record turnover of 433 million Euros. She noted strong performance across regions and product lines, particularly in safe small controllers, sensor technology, and services. Despite challenges, Kunschert expressed optimism for 2024, emphasizing Pilz’s innovative products and dedicated workforce.
Thomas Pilz reiterated Pilz’s commitment to making the world more digital, connected, flexible, efficient, safe, and secure, emphasizing the company’s core competence in safety. He noted that industries like hydrogen, e-mobility, semiconductors, and railway technology are crucial in the ongoing transformation. Highlighting the hydrogen industry, Pilz explained that functional safety and industrial security are paramount due to hydrogen’s high energy density and potential hazards. Pilz’s automation system, PSS 4000, ensures safety at hydrogen refueling stations in France, guaranteeing both economic operation and safety.Lambertus Monnee, Product Manager, discussed automation solutions for the hydrogen industry, emphasizing the importance of safe handling to fully exploit hydrogen’s potential. Pilz’s control systems reliably detect gas leaks and monitor critical parameters, ensuring comprehensive safety. Matthias Wolfer, from Product Management, presented IO-Link Safety, highlighting its role in achieving safe data transfer at the field level to optimize production processes. Bernd Müller, Senior Manager Business Development, detailed Pilz’s holistic support for the packaging industry, emphasizing flexibility, productivity, and safety.
