The tough six-month training programme will include lessons on EV battery care, auto electricals and electronics, and computer numerical control (CNC). They would train students to become EV service technicians, mechanics of automobile electrical parts and electronics, and CNC programmers.

Harsha Kadam, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Schaeffler India, said, “This STEP Center will take Schaeffler India’s dedication to enable social inclusion and equal opportunities by empowering our future – the under-represented youth. Having spent years innovating in all aspects of Motion Technology as a trusted development partner for the country’s pioneering automotive companies, Schaeffler India is bringing its insights into the technology frontier of EV maintenance to the realm of skilling – the need of the hour for making our automotive industry future-ready.”

After graduation, students can use their unique skills to land jobs in prominent automotive businesses and authorised dealerships for EV car servicing. The target for 2024 is to train 180 students.
