ICTMA Conference 2024: Advancing growth in the Indian cutting tool industry

The ICTMA Annual Conference 2024, a meeting point for the cutting tool fraternity will be a breeding ground for strategic dialogue, technological sharing, and proactive industry leadership.

The Indian Cutting Tool Manufacturer’s Association (ICTMA) convenes its Annual Conference on April 19th at The Atria, Radisson Blu, Bangalore. Themed “Where Cutting-Edge Meets Tradition,” the event is a pivotal gathering for industry leaders to discuss trends, challenges, and innovations shaping the future of the cutting tool industry.

Ravi Prem, President of ICTMA, sets the stage with a keynote address that outlines the challenges faced by the industry, such as raw material shortages and technological access disparities and proposed strategic initiatives aimed at overcoming these obstacles. “We are here to foster a collaborative environment where small and medium enterprises can access the same opportunities as larger corporations, ensuring a more balanced industry growth. Our discussions will also tackle the impact of import policies on local manufacturing and outline actionable strategies for advocacy and change,” Mr Prem elaborates.

Vice President Anil Kumar emphasizes the critical role of technological adaptation in the industry’s future. “Today’s sessions will delve into how emerging technologies can be integrated into existing frameworks, focusing on practical solutions for pressing challenges in tool making and machining. We are dedicated to equipping our members with the tools and knowledge necessary to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving market,” Mr Kumar states, highlighting the importance of the specialized technological session he will lead and conclude.

L Krishnan, Executive Committee Member, reflects on the association’s mission and the conference’s role in fulfilling it: “ICTMA’s commitment extends beyond mere promotion of current technologies; we aim to be the catalyst for innovation and excellence across the entire cutting tool ecosystem. This seminar is designed to inspire and instruct, providing attendees with the latest trends and techniques that will drive their operations to new heights of efficiency and productivity,” Mr Krishnan adds.

The event will feature a keynote address by Ravi Prem, centered on addressing industry challenges and outlining strategic growth initiatives. Following this, Anil Kumar will lead a specialized technological session, culminating in closing remarks that emphasized the integration of cutting-edge technologies in tool making and machining.

One of the highlights is a panel discussion on the latest trends in cutting tool technology. Moderated by Hari Shankar, Managing Editor at Machine Maker, the panel will feature distinguished industry experts. Among them are Amit Salunkhe, General Manager of ZOLLER India & South East Asia; Manish Adwani, Managing Director of CemeCon India; Sunil Taneja, Managing Director of IND-SPHINX Precision; and L. Krishnan, Managing Director of Taegutec India. The discussion aims to delve into emerging trends, innovations, and challenges shaping the cutting tool industry, providing valuable insights for attendees.

Andreas Weidenauer, Managing Director of Vollmer Technologies, will delve into the realm of hybrid machining techniques for tool production. Following this, Kishore A P, Country Manager at ANCA Machine Tools India, will forecast the evolution of the Indian cutting tool industry in his session titled “Grinding The Future.” Ravi Prem, Executive Director of The Forbes & Company, will share insights on the future landscape of cutting tool manufacturing in India. Lastly, Pau Sarsanedas Millet, CEO of DLyte Technologies, will lead a session exploring emerging trends in cutting tool technology. These presentations collectively offer a glimpse into the innovative advancements and transformative trends shaping the cutting tool industry on the horizon.
