The Factory Science is a part of Maxbyte Industry 4.0 Learning Solutions, it an experiential and interactive learning platform for manufacturing customers. What we did so far

So far, we have completed one series of Track 1 Master Class on data driven product lifecycle and currently the second series is going live. Meanwhile the series 1 of Track 2 – Industry 4.0 Technologies will be starting from 21st of June. These sessions will be happening every month.

How it helps

The sessions help in lot of awareness among various groups of manufacturing industry professionals and give them an idea of how exactly the industrial digitisation works in an organisation.

Maxbyte Advanced Robotics Centre

As part of Maxbyte Advanced Research Centre (MARC), we have developed AX platform for robotisation of manually operated Industrial vehicles into Industrial Mobile Robots (IMR). AX platform consist of the hardware devices and software platform for autonomous operations. The hardware consists of the AX box that interfaces with industry standard LIDAR, safety laser sensors, 3D cameras along with provision to hold Analog and Digital I/Os. The software consists of the IMR firmware that is inside the AX box and for IMR control and fleet manager that resides on server in the same network as IMR.

The IMR firmware has inbuilt algorithms and programs for:

  • Localisation and Navigation
  • Obstacle avoidance
  • Dynamic object detection and pose estimation
  • Safety and rules configuration
  • Remote communication
  • Self-healing and quarantine

The Fleet Manager software consists of features including:

  • IMR routing • IMR work scheduling
  • IMR parameter configuration
  • Interfaces to ERP, IOT, WMS, MES etc.
  • Aftermarket intelligence for IMR diagnostics and performance
  • Augmented Reality for visualisation
  • Wallet of Things for consumption-based pricing

Some of the applications of AX box in real world scenarios include:

  • Battery operated pallet trucks
  • Counterbalancing forklifts
  • Industrial cleaning equipment
  • Agricultural equipment like tractors and tillers

Of the above, AX Platform is already implemented for battery operated pallet trucks and Industrial cleaning equipment.

The idea is a novel approach of Robotisation of manually operated machines. This helps manufacturers robotise their existing vehicles and OEMs to launch robotised new product lines. The proposed model of providing the entire solution in Robot as a Service model accelerates the ease of adoption among initial users of robotics.
